Well, for SOME reason, Yahoo decided to change their JSON response code!!

WHY??

I’m sure there is a reason but I can’t find it.  And I certainly didn’t get an email.

They changed it from “ysearchresponse” to “asearchresponse”.

OK, “asearchresponse” sounds better but come on!

I know I can’t complain too much considering I’m getting a multi-billion search infrastructure for almost nothing….

Well, searches should be working now.  We are shooting to release a new version by the end of the month.

Well, someone smart could probably find it….lol

Anyway, the demo site released is more of a proof of concept to test RoR installation using mod_rails (Passenger), Ruby Enterprise and custom Capistrano tasks.

Things are looking up!

Now that huge hurdle is over, I can start deploying more and more updates….more often!

I am having some trouble getting some ajax forms to work correctly…

I am shooting to roll out a new version in 2 weeks or less.   We have some new features but I think feature-creep is holding me back a little.

Oh, we are also making a switch from PHP to Ruby on Rails.

We weren’t really ready for any kind of fall-over yet (still a tiny little startup).

Right now, it’s plain.  But seems to be pretty fast.  I have doubts about adding any lightboxes or any other JS code that delays what I want when searching for pictures…VIEWING IT!

Seriously, have you ever clicked a thumbnail and had to wait for some cheesy animation and spinning icon when all you want to do is zoom in on the picture?  lol

Anyway….also, there is no adult (pr0n to nerdy like me) support.  We will more than likely put it in.  Not because we are porn kings but because we don’t judge. 

If/When we add adult support, there will be a preference setting to turn it on and off.  Can you find dirty pictures now?  Probably if you look hard enough but let’s be honest.  It’s not that hard to find anyway.

I’m still amazed that traffic is still growing and I feel that the best we can do hasn’t even started yet.
We will be running some recommendation experiments soon and probably testing a news section.

There has been quite a bit of back-end work done over the last couple of days.  The bad thing about that is even though we are quite proud, you really don’t see what it does.  hahaha

Some of the features are:

• Better looking pagination nav bar
• Results bar in a nice shade of green.
• Spelling suggestions

Like I said, not a huge amount but I feel things are starting to look up.

The traffic is steady for now but I’d like to see it increase, of course.  So tell all your friends!  Plus, SOMEONE has to break it right?  I know I have a few times.  But be gentle.
